Amelia Moore has been nominated as a NCAA Woman of the Year candidate. The Atlantic 10 Conference announced the nominations for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award from the league institutions on Wednesday.
Atlantic 10 Conference member institutions have nominated 17 outstanding female student-athletes for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year Award, equaling a league record in total number of nominees set in 2023. The 17 institutional nominees have been recognized for their exceptional academic prowess and notable athletic success as well as their leadership and service to their community. The candidates have noteworthy credentials, garnering national and A-10 academic honors, All-Conference awards, and postseason championship participation. A complete list of the nominees, their sport, hometown and academic studies are included below. A full profile of each candidate will be shared on Atlantic10.com beginning Friday, July 15.
Moore, a 2024 Dayton graduate, earned year-end Atlantic 10 All-Conference accolades every year of her career, including the A-10 Rookie of the Year award as a freshman. The Ocean Springs, Miss. native earned A-10 weekly honors 13 times in her career, and ranks in the top five in four different statistical records at Dayton, while also earning AVCA All-Region recognition twice.
Perhaps more impressive were Moore's feats off the court, as she was not only a fixture on the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll each year, but was also a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honoree in 2022 and 2023, an AVCA Academic All-District Team finalist in 2023, and a University of Dayton Presidential Scholar. Moore won the UD Graduate Student Summer Fellowship Award in 2023 and in 2024 had a paper published in the renowned Nature Neuroscience Journal. She also had an Approved Thesis Defense on "Exploring Neural Circuitry and Purkinje Cell Changes Underlying Cerebellum-Dependent Motor Abnormalities in Down Syndrome" in 2024.
