Gideon ESPN Lampron Named Stats Perform FCS National Defensive Player Of The Week

Linebacker Earns Dayton’s First National Weekly Honor In Three Years

STATS PERFORM  – University of Dayton linebacker Gideon Lampron was named this week's Stats Perform National Defensive Player of the Week after his performance in UD's 18-10 win over Saint Francis on Saturday.

This is UD's first national weekly honor since Jake Chisholm was named Stats Perform National Offensive Player of the Week against Davidson in 2021.

Lampron, whose middle name is ESPN, led an opportunistic Dayton defense with 11 tackles (six solo), forced two fumbles and recovered one.  He had three tackles for a loss and a sack in the win.

The redshirt sophomore from LaGrange, Ohio set up Dayton's first touchdown by forcing and recovering a fumble at the Saint Francis 28-yard line 74 seconds into the game.  Just before the end of the first quarter, he made the tackle on a safety that gave the Flyers a 9-0 lead.

Dayton has a bye week before traveling to Indiana State of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. That game will be on Saturday, Sept. 14.  Kickoff is 6 p.m. ET.
