Dayton Baseball Welcomes Bradley For Three-Game Set This Weekend

The FlyBoys And Braves Play A Doubleheader Saturday And Single Game Sunday

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team plays host to Bradley in its first home series of the 2025 campaign, taking on the Braves Friday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, March 2 at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

UD and Bradley will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 12 p.m., and finish the series with a single game on Sunday also at 12 p.m. All games will be broadcast on ESPN+ by FlyerTV.

Offensive Explosion
- The FlyBoys erupted for 20 runs on 20 hits to rout Bellarmine in the 2025 home opener on Wednesday afternoon.
- Sophomore Adin Zorn led the way with five base hits while driving in five runs, while fellow sophomore Ryan MacDougall had a four-hit, four-RBI performance.
- Freshman Rylan Lujo (3), senior Mason Dobie (2), and sophomore Michael DiMartini (2) also had multi-hit performances, while Lujo also drove in a career-best four runs.

Speed Kills
- Dayton wreaked havoc on the base paths against the Knights on Wednesday, swiping a program record 11 bases in the game.
- Junior Aiden Heberlie ran amok, stealing five bases in five attempts. Sophomore Michael DiMartini stole three bases and Rylan Lujo, Aiden Zorn and Dyrenson Wouters each stole one.
- The previous record for steals was nine, accomplished most recently in 2019 against Toledo.

Freshman Phenom
- Freshman Rylan Lujo has started every game at third base for the Flyers while hitting third in the order. He leads the team in batting average (.419) and has reached base at a .474 clip.
- The Coconut Creek, Fla. native has had back-to-back three-hit performances and has collected three multi-hit games in total, while scoring and driving in eight runs, hitting three doubles, and stealing three bases.

Comeback Falls Just Short
- The FlyBoys flirted with a comeback of epic proportions in Tuesday's 16-14 loss at Northern Kentucky. After trailing 12-1, UD chipped away and even briefly took a lead in the seventh inning at 14-13. Unfortunately the Norse struck back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh to spoil the comeback bid.
- Five Flyers finished the game with multiple hits, including three-hit showings from both Rylan Lujo and Dyrenson Wouters.
- Both Lujo and Michael DiMartini drove in three runs, while Alejandro Sardinas scored three.

Scouting Bradley
- Bradley comes into the weekend with a 2-4 record in the 2025 campaign, most recently getting a series win over Siena.
- The Braves opened the season with a series at Alabama, falling in all three with the Crimson Tide.
- Bobby Atkinson has been Mr. Everything for the Bradley offense to start the year, hitting .478 with a 1.364 OPS, slugging two homers, two doubles and driving in eight.
- Travis Lutz leads the Braves on the mound, striking out 13 in 8.1 innings of work. He's got a 1-1 record with a 7.56 ERA.

Next Up
- Dayton has another pair of midweek games next week, traveling to Bellarmine on Tuesday, March 4 for a 2 p.m. game and hosting Bowling Green on Wednesday, March 5 at 3 p.m.
