Baseball Heads To George Mason To Open A-10 Play

The FlyBoys And Patriots Play One Friday And Doubleheader Saturday

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team opens Atlantic 10 action this weekend at George Mason in Fairfax, Va. with a three-game series scheduled for March 14-15 at Sphuler Field.

Due to inclement weather expected in the area for the weekend, Friday's first pitch has been moved up an hour and Saturday is now a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.

Dy's First Dinger
- Newcomer Dyrenson Wouters hit his first home run since joining the Flyers ni the FlyBoys' game at Akron. The transfer from Southern New Hampshire hit a two-run shot after driving in a run with a bunt earlier in the game.

Walk This Way
- Senior Mason Dobie has shown strong plate discipline at the dish this season, drawing 15 walks on the campaign. His walk total is tied for the A-10 lead on the season and is tops for the Flyers.

Peguero The Ace
- Senior pitcher Chris Peguero looked every bit the ace on Friday afternoon, shutting down Bryant over seven innings of work. The Boston, Mass. native struck out seven and allowed just one run on four hits. Peguero also issued just one free pass via hit by pitch, not walking a single batter.
- The seven innings by Peguero was the longest outing of the season for a Flyer pitcher.

Another Weekend Winner
- Dayton has won each of its last two weekend series thanks to a 2-1 series victory over Bryant last weekend. The FlyBoys rode a dominant pitching performance to a 7-1 win on Friday, out-slugged the Bulldogs 10-8 on Saturday, and came up short 7-4 in the series finale.

D-Mart Keeps It Rolling (Again)
- After earning a Player of the Week nod for his outstanding performance two weeks ago, Michael DiMartini has kept right on rolling at the plate for the FlyBoys.
- The sophomore hit .556 (10-f0r-18) in five games last week with a 1.899 OPS, slugging two homers, two triples, two doubles, driving in nine runs and scoring six more.
- DiMartini had at least one hit in each of the Flyers' games this week, including a three-hit, two homer game at Bellarmine to start the week.
- The Pittsburgh, Pa. native also stole four bases on the week and now leads the team in batting average (.424), runs scored (23), triples (3), home runs (6), RBI (21) and stolen bases (15).

Scouting George Mason
- George Mason has been one of the top teams in the Atlantic 10 this season, jumping out to an 11-6 start to the 2025 campaign.
- The Patriots are No. 2 in the A-10 in hitting this season, posting a team batting average of .324. Outfielder James Quinn-Irons hasn't just led the conference in hitting, but he's been at or near the top of the NCAA, posting a .522 average with a 1.515 OPS. The junior has scored 30 runs and driven in 32.
- The pitching has a team ERA of 4.47 on the campaign, good for second in the conference. The trio of Sam Lavin, Connor O'Hara and Brandon Cassedy have carried the weekend load, with Cassedy leading the team with 21 strikeouts.

Next Up
- Dayton hits the road for a pair of games against Mid-American Conference opponents, traveling to "the Harvard on the Hocking" Ohio University on Tuesday, March 18 and then head to Bowling Green for a rematch with the Falcons on Wednesday, March 19.
