DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team takes on the Air Force Academy on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in a midweek showdown at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

It has been 24 years since the Flyers and Falcons have faced one another, and the first time the two will do battle in Ohio.

Player of the Week
- Freshman sensation
Rylan Lujo earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season, the league office announced on Monday.
- The Coconut Creek, Fla. native went 6-for-11 at the plate in three games against Saint Louis, including one home run, and was even better in non-conference action.
- Lujo went 5-for-6 with two home runs and a double in Dayton's non-conference win over Ohio, then added a 3-for-5 showing against Bowling Green with another home run and double.
- Lujo is the only Flyer to start all 26 games this season.

- Dayton is 17th nationally in total hits this season, led in part by sophomore
Michael DiMartini and freshman
Rylan Lujo.
- DiMartini is first in the Atlantic 10 and fifth in all of NCAA baseball with 44 hits on the season, while Lujo ranks second in the A-10 and eighth in college baseball with 43 base knocks.

Mason Dobie is second in the A-10 in walks with 22. He is already two-thirds of the way to his walk total from a season ago.
- Flyer Freshman
Rylan Lujo is the best freshman in the Atlantic 10, leading all first-year players with a batting average of .417, which is also good for third-best nationally among freshmen.Â

Speed Kills
- The Flyers rank second in the Atlantic 10 in stolen bases this season, swiping 62 bases in 75 attempts. Dayton's 83% success rate is tied with league-leader George Mason for the highest of any of the league's teams with more than 60 stolen base attempts.

Michael DiMartini leading the way with 21 and
Aiden Heberlie coming in at seventh with 13.

- The Dayton baseball team and the Dayton Dragons have announced that tickets for the Flyers' 2025 Day Air Ballpark game against Wright State on April 29 are now on sale.

- Tickets are $10.00 for all spectators. Students from both the University of Dayton and Wright State will be admitted free of charge.

- Dayton last played the Air Force Academy as part of a two-game series during the 2001 campaign. The Flyers won both contests against the Falcons, sweeping the two game series by scores of 21-6 and 9-8.
- Zero current Flyer players were alive when the two teams last played, and pitching coach

Scouting Air Force
- Air Force has a 7-16 overall record coming into the week and a 2-4 mark in Mountain West play and will play Wright State (Tuesday) and UD while in Ohio.
- Walker Zapp leads the Falcons in hitting through 23 games, posting a .357 average with a .998 OPS. Zach Peters is the only other cadet with an average over .300, turning in a .333 mark.
- The Falcons have a team ERA of 7.07 and strikeout per nine inning mark of 8.83. Davis Rhyne leads the team in appearances on the year, seeing action in nine games, striking out 12 in 10.2 innings of work. Patrick Davidson, Gaines Estridge, Sam Hentges, Easton Miller and Cranz Smelcer have all made eight appearances this season.
