#FlyBoys Host George Washington For A-10 Series

UD And GW Start Action Friday At 3 P.M.

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team returns to the friendly confines of Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium this weekend, hosting George Washington for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 11.
 
Dayton returns home after a four-game road swing that saw the Flyers go 3-1, including an Atlantic 10 sweep at Massachusetts.
 
WOUTERS NAMED NATIONAL SHORTSTOP OF THE WEEK
- Junior shortstop Dyrenson Wouters was named the Brooks Wallace Award (national shortstop of the week) winner by the College Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday afternoon.
-  Wouters continued his hot streak at the plate this week, helping the Flyers to a 4-0 week by slashing .714/.737/.714. The Aruba native had multi-hit games in all four games on the week, scoring seven runs, stealing two bases and reaching four times via walk.
- Wouters batting average is now .439 on the season, best in the Atlantic 10 and Top 10 in the NCAA.
 
GOING STREAKING!
- Despite the loss on Tuesday night, three Flyers extended impressive streaks by reaching base against Vanderbilt.
- Sophomore Michael DiMartini has now hit safely in 28 consecutive games, the longest streak in the last 20 years. Only three Flyers have had hit streaks over 20 games since 2004: Mariano Ricciardi 21 in 2021, Bobby Glover 21 in 2012, and Michael Massa 20 in 2006.
- Freshman Rylan Lujo has continued to impress at the plate in his rookie campaign, hitting safely in 17 consecutive games with 10 multi-hit showings in that span. The Coconut Creek, Fla. native has also reached base in 20 consecutive games.
- Junior transfer Dyrenson Wouters had his 15-game hitting streak snapped against Vanderbilt on Tuesday night, but reached base via walk to extend his on-base streak to an impressive 26 games.
 
SWEEP 'EM UP!
- Dayton came from behind in two of three games at Massachusetts to secure its first Atlantic 10 road sweep since the 2021 campaign.
- The Flyers' offense continues to roll in league play, scoring 10.67 runs per contest against the Minutemen, as well as averaging 13 hits and 9.3 free passes.
- Junior Dyrenson Wouters hit .636 for the weekend, scoring six runs and swiping a pair of bases. Freshman Ty Mainolfi hit .500 with a pair of home runs and five runs driven in, and redshirt junior Bobby Stang hit .400 with a pair of homers.
- Sophomore southpaw Bennett LaPalm picked up a pair of wins on the weekend, throwing 3.1 innings of scoreless relief action.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
- Dayton's spectacular offensive season is reflected in the NCAA rankings, with the Flyers ranking in the top 25 in three different categories. The #FlyBoys have a number of individuals with impressive numbers in the national rankings as well, as sophomore transfer Michael DiMartini leads the nation in hits with 63. Sophomore Bennett LaPalm ranks fourth in wins, freshman Rylan Lujo is fourth in hits, and junior transfer Dyrenson Wouters ranks eighth in average. DAY AIR GAME TICKETS ON SALE NOW
- The Dayton baseball team and the Dayton Dragons have announced that tickets for the Flyers' 2025 Day Air Ballpark game against Wright State on April 29 are now on sale.
- Tickets are $10.00 for all spectators. Students from both the University of Dayton and Wright State will be admitted free of charge.
 
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
- George Washington comes into the weekend with a 18-14 overall record and 6-6 mark in the Atlantic 10 on the season. The Revolutionaries lost two of three in its most recent A-10 series at home to VCU
- GW is currently hitting .278 as a team, led by Ty Acker and Sam Gates, who are hitting .320 and .314, respectively.
- Michael Foltz Jr. leads the Revs' starting pitching with a 6.15 ERA, 2-5 record and 34 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched.
 
NEXT UP
- The Flyers finish their modest four-game home stand by welcoming Ohio University to Woerner Field on Tuesday, April 15 for a 3 p.m. contest.
