#FlyBoys At UMass On Deck This Weekend

Dayton And Massachusetts Kick Off The Series With A Doubleheader Friday

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team travels to Amherst, Mass. this weekend for a three-game Atlantic 10 series against Massachusetts at Earl Lorden Field.
 
The three-game series has already been altered because of the local forecast. The Flyers and Minutemen will play the first two games of the series on Friday, April 4 with a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
 
The final game of the series is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 at 1 p.m., but if unable to play the two teams will play the finale on Sunday.
 
A-10 Slayers
- Dayton's offense has come alive in conference play, with three players hitting .447 or better and four players turning in an OPS over 1.000.
- Junior Dyrenson Wouters is leading the charge with a .500 average in A-10 action, while Michael DiMartini (.452) and Rylan Lujo (.447) have also had fantastic starts to league play.
- Wouters leads UD in OPS in conference play with a 1.413 mark, while Lujo is at 1.319, DiMartini at 1.050, and sophomore Adin Zorn has a 1.021 mark.
- Junior start J.J. Gatti is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in the A-10, posting a 10.13 strikeout/nine inning average.
 
Gatti Got 'em
- Junior starter J.J. Gatti's surrendered just two hits, one of which was an infield single on a swinging bunt, and struck out seven and only walked one in seven shutout innings against a Davidson team averaging a run per inning in 2025.
 
D-Mart Dominates
- Sophomore Michael DiMartini is the NCAA Division I leader in total hits with 56 and ranks 13th in batting average (.441) this season. He also ranks fifth in stolen bases (24) and ninth in runs scored (43) nationally, and leads the Atlantic 10 in all those categories.
- D-Mart is also first in the league in triples (5), second in home runs (9), and fourth in on-base percentage (.510).
 
Freshman Phenom
- Freshman Rylan Lujo has continued to live up to lofty preseason expectations, hitting .427 with a 1.207 OPS, 13 doubles and seven home runs.
- The Coconut Creek, Fla. native is first nationally among freshmen in doubles, second in average and seventh in home runs.
 
Dyrenson Delivers
- Junior Dyrenson Wouters has taken his offensive performance to a new level, hitting .722 in the last five games, bringing his season average to .430.
- The Aruba native is now second on the team in average and doubles (10), third in runs scored (25), and fourth in RBI (21).
 
Day Air Game Tickets On Sale Now
- The Dayton baseball team and the Dayton Dragons have announced that tickets for the Flyers' 2025 Day Air Ballpark game against Wright State on April 29 are now on sale.
 
- Tickets are $10.00 for all spectators. Students from both the University of Dayton and Wright State will be admitted free of charge.
 
Scouting Massachusetts
- Massachusetts has started Atlantic 10 play 3-6 and is 9-13-1 overall this season. The Minutemen have lost three consecutive games and are 2-3 at home on the campaign.
- UMass is currently hitting .251 on the campaign as a team, led by Jack Beverly and Anthony Tirado, who both have averages of .286.
- The pitching has a team ERA of 7.49 on the season, with Callen Powers (2-0, 3.86 ERA) and Robbie O'Connor (2-3, 5.70 ERA) leading the way.
 
Next Up
- Dayton plays another road game on Tuesday, April 8 when they travel to Vanderbilt to take on the Commodores at 6 p.m. at Hawkins Field.
- The Flyers return to Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium for a three-game A-10 series against George Washington April 11-13.
