DALLAS – University of Dayton baseball sophomore
Michael DiMartini continues to haul in postseason awards, as the Pittsburgh native has been named Third Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.
Â
It marks the second consecutive season that a Flyer has been named an All-American by the NCBWA, joining 2024 honoree
Nick Wissman. It is just the fourth time in program history a UD baseball player has earned an All-American honor (
Nick Wissman, Second Team NCBWA, Third Team ABCA; Brian Blasik, Third Team Louisville Slugger All-American, 2012).
Â
DiMartini, who was announced as a First Team All-East Region honoree by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) yesterday, was the first Flyer to hit over .400 in a season since 2004 when he batted .403 this season.
Â
The Pittsburgh native finished the season setting program records for hits (96), runs scored (69) and stolen bases (37). He finished the year with a 1.150 OPS, 14 home runs, 11 doubles, seven triples and 65 RBI and was an All-Atlantic 10 first team honoree.
Â
DiMartini joins teammate
Rylan Lujo with receiving accolades from the NCBWA this week, as Lujo was named First Team Freshman All-American by the organization yesterday.
