DAYTON – The University of Dayton volleyball program will begin the 2025 campaign with an exhibition against the Tennessee Lady Vols.
The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 in the friendly confines of the Frericks Center. The exhibition is open to the public.
The Flyers finished last season 31-3 and made it to last season's NCAA Regionals. This season, Dayton is starting the season at No. 24 in the AVCA Preseason Poll and first in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll. The Lady Vols are receiving votes in the AVCA Preseason Poll after finishing the 2024 season 15-12 and advancing to the First Round of the NCAA Championships.
This year's Flyers roster features 10 new players made up of five transfers and five freshmen. All five transfers bring Division I experience with Lily Barry from Illinois, Lejla Sara Hadžiredžepović from Clemson, Kamryn Hunt from Ohio, Panna Ratkai from Purdue Fort Wayne and Viktoria Wahlgren from Utah. Morgan Asleson (LaGrange, Ill. / Benet Academy), Addi Gallentine (Newburgh, Ind. / Castle), Claire Logeais (Prior Lake, Minn. / Academy of Holy Angels), Melina Schrader (New Bremen, Ohio / New Bremen) and Isabel Simmons (Sioux Falls, S.D. / Sioux Falls Jefferson) make up this year's freshmen class.
After redshirting last season, Corrie Anderson, Sydney Barrett and Abigail Cresse will join the active roster this year. Fellow returners include Karissa Kaminski (4.22 d/s, 1.46 assists/s), Kaitlyn McNeel (15 match appearances in 2024), Taylor Russell (136 kills, 39 total blocks), Liana Sarkissian (AVCA All-Region and All-Atlantic 10 second team) and Emily Young (132 digs in 114 sets).Â
Dayton will kick off the 2025 regular season at the Utah Classic on Aug. 29-30, taking on Lafayette, No. 23 Utah and Washington St. in Salt Lake City, Utah.
