Cross Country To Continue Season At Western Michigan

Flyers Step Back On The Course After Three Week Break

DAYTON — The University of Dayton cross country teams will continue their 2025 season after a three-week break on Friday as they compete in the George Dale Invitational hosted by Western Michigan University. This will be the Flyers' second time on the course this season and the first time this season that both teams have raced the standard distances of 8k for men and 6k for women.

The Flyers hope to continue their strong start to the season as they build towards the Atlantic 10 Championships, which will be hosted by UD, on November 1 at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course at Cedarville University.

27 athletes will take on the course on Friday for UD as 14 men and 13 women are scheduled to step to the line. In the women's race, Freshman Ashley Alsko will make her collegiate debut.

Start Times
Men's 8K: 10:00 a.m.
Women's 6K: 10:45 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton Cross Country is back on the course after three weeks of training following their season-opening 5k races at Miami University's RedHawk Rumble. The three-team meet featuring the Flyers competing against Miami and the University of Cincinnati saw both teams finish second.

In the men's race, senior Owen Pukys was a standout, giving himself the birthday gift of a PR as he crossed the line in 14:58.27 to finish ninth overall. Pukys's performance was made all the more impressive by the fact that it was his first race back after missing the entirety of last season. Other Flyer men to set personal bests were sophomore Logan Arnold in a time of 15:23.53, sophomore Gerrit Dam in 15:38.31, senior Jameson Maynes with a time of 15:50.71, and junior Colin Sams with a new best of 15:51.9. Five runners competed in their first collegiate cross country race at the meet. Kamden Kramer, Alex Bendaña, Tyler Giunipero, Jacob Reash, and Jacob Finney all made their debuts.

On the women's side, senior Marissa Pritchett was the first Flyer across the line, finishing in sixth place overall with a time of 17:58.93. Junior Bryn Hothem was one spot behind her in seventh, running a personal best time of 18:00.28. Junior Olivia Kindbom rounded out UD's top three in eleventh place overall with a time of 18:31.07. One other runner, Mia Gill, set a new PR as she ran 19:30.11. Four freshman, Bailey Gross, Addison Stephens, Abigail Jordan, and Reese Kohnle, all made their collegiate debuts.
