INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -  University of Dayton track and field competed in their first of four indoor meets at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis this weekend. 

The Flyers had 12 finishes in the top-five and recorded 17 new personal bests. Senior Raegan Ernst, Sophomore Jameson Pillifant, Freshman Simone Bessong, and Senior Jadyn Haywood all set marks that improve their all-time rankings. The meet also served as the distance team's season opener and three freshmen, Bailey Gross, Ashley Alsko, and Reese Kohnle all made their collegiate debuts. 

Highlights

• Jadyn Haywood broke her own school record in the 200m, running 23.97 to take second in the event. 
• Simone Bessong continued her breakout freshman season, finishing fourth in both the 60m and 200m events. She set a PR of 24.28 in the 200m, which is the third fastest time in school history. 
• In the prelims of the 60m Hurdles, Raegan Ernst and Jameson Pillifant both qualified for the final. Ernst set a PR of 8.71, the second fastest time in program history. Pillifant ran the fourth fastest time in school history of 8.77. They both finished in the top five of Saturday's final. 
• The mile run saw two Flyers, Mia Gill and Sarah Haunn, set big new PRs. Ashley Alsko and Reese Kohnle ran their first collegiate miles on Saturday.
• Sydney Workman set a personal best of 57.70 in the 400m to finish third.
