Split Series With Ohio Up Next For The #FlyBoys

The Flyers Will Host A Doubleheader On March 1

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team will take on Ohio in a split series this weekend. The Bobcats will host the first two games of the series, concluding the four-game series with a doubleheader at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

Friday and Sunday's first game will be streamed on ESPN+. Saturday's matinee will be on YouTube.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton defeated Toledo 18-8 in seven innings at home on Wednesday.

Home runs by Martin Howell and Danny MacDougall combined for five runs. Howell also tallied three RBIs on two singles in the game, leading the team with five RBIs. The FlyBoys' eight stolen bases, featuring three by Michael Smith Jr., were the most for the team so far this season. Dayton's pitching staff combined for six strikeouts on the day.

SCOUTING OHIO
Ohio is 1-7 after being swept by Tennessee Tech last weekend and falling to No. 24 West Virginia on Wednesday. The Bobcats' only win is from their last game against Murray State during opening weekend. Ohio was ranked No. 11 in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll to begin the season.

Will Henson leads the Bobcats with a .438 batting average and eight RBIs on the season. Cameron Boyd has two home runs, leading the team. Left-handed pitcher Aiden Cook leads Ohio's pitching staff with seven strikeouts this season.

LAST MEETING
The Flyers and the Bobcats stand at 9-9 all-time. Dayton has won the last five meetings.

Last April, the FlyBoys won 10-8 at home. Martin Howell hit a home run in the win with Ryan MacDougall tallying two RBIs thanks to a single in the sixth.

UP NEXT
Dayton will play a midweek game at Akron on Wednesday, March 4, before hosting Maine for its last non-conference series.
