DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team will head to Oxford, Ohio for a game against Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday, March 18.
The game is set for 3 p.m. at McKie Field at Hayden Park.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton went 1-2 to open Atlantic 10 play against Saint Louis this past weekend. The FlyBoys won the final game of the series, 12-2.
Grayson Carpenter led Dayton with a .444 batting average, going 4-for-9 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bobby Stang hit the team's only home run in the win on Saturday night. Peyton Malecha struck out four batters, the most for any UD pitcher. As a staff, the Flyers struck out 20 batters in the series.
SCOUTING MIAMI (OHIO)
The RedHawks are 13-5 overall with a 5-1 record in the Mid-American Conference. Last weekend, Miami (Ohio) went 2-1 against Bowling Green. The RedHawks were also picked first in the MAC Preseason Poll.
Tommy Harrison, who was named MAC Player of the Week on March 2, leads Miami (Ohio) with a .444/.810/.557 slash line with 25 RBIs. Evan Appelwick was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division I Preseason All-America Fourth Team and leads the team with nine home runs. The RedHawks have struck out 150 batters, with Clayton Burke leading the way with 26 strikeouts.
LAST MEETING
Dayton is 25-60 all-time against Miami (Ohio), dating back to 1921. The teams have not met since 2023, when the Flyers won 7-5 at home.
Nick Wissman got credit for the win, with Matthew Johnson earning the save. The FlyBoys scored two runs on walks and one on a hit-by-pitch.

The FlyBoys will host VCU at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium on March 20-22.
