DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team will host its final non-conference home series, taking on the Maine Black Bears at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium on March 6-8.
First pitch is set for noon on all three days. Saturday and Sunday's games will be live streamed on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
The Flyers won a midweek game at Akron on Wednesday, winning 14-11 in the high-scoring affair.
Four FlyBoys hit a combined five home runs, with Colin Lynch hitting two. Lynch, Ryan MacDougall and Michael Smith Jr. each tallied three RBIs. The Flyers' pitching staff struck out seven batters, with Carson Samuels leading the team with three K's.
SCOUTING MAINE
The Black Bears are 2-10 overall this season, winning a game against both Duke and High Point. Maine is currently on a seven-game losing streak.
Maine has had America East weekly honors for three consecutive weeks. Jack Donlin and Troy Carpenter were named Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, with Carpenter earning the nod two weeks in a row. This past week, Rex Hauser was named Rookie of the Week.
Juju Stevens, Maine's leadoff batter, leads the America East with a 1.276 OPS. He also leads the team with 13 runs scored and five home runs. Friday's projected starter, Gianni Gambardella, has one win on the season and an ERA of 6.89.
LAST MEETING
Dayton and Maine have not squared off since 1999. In their only meeting, the Black Bears won both games.
DAYTON AT DAY AIR
UD and the Dayton Dragons announced on Tuesday that the FlyBoys will host Wright State at Day Air Ballpark on April 15. Tickets can be purchased here, and students can claim free tickets here.
This will be Dayton's sixth consecutive game at Day Air. 2023's game against the Raiders set an attendance record for the FlyBoys of 6,743 attendees.

UD will host Bowling Green on Tuesday, March 10 at 3 p.m., opening its conference slate March 13-15 at Saint Louis.
