#UDTF Shows Speed And Strength In Tennessee

Raegan Ernst Breaks Her Own School Record In The 100m Hurdles

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Dayton track and field team was busy Friday and Saturday with athletes competing at the Tennessee Invited, hosted by the University of Tennessee and Fast Break Invite hosted by Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. 

UD posted nine top-five finishes and 10 Flyers put their name in the record book with top-five all-time marks. Maggie Hofner and Mia Gill both stepped on the podium with third place finishes. Raegan Ernst broke her own school record in the 100m hurdles (14.12). 

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Raegan Ernst for the third straight event posted a personal best in the 100m Hurdles. The senior broke her own school record to qualify for the 100m Hurdles final running 14.12. The Dublin, Ohio native finished sixth at the Tennessee Invite in the final (14.33).  
  • Mia Gill had two personal records over the weekend and recorded the third-fastest time in UD history in the 800m (2:11.1) with her third place finish at the Fast Break Invite. The Sophomore also posted a PR in the 1,500m (4:41.46).
  • Maggie Hofner got on the podium at the Tennessee Invite with a personal best in the Discus (44.53m) to finish third. The senior was joined in the Top 10 by Rebekah Conrad, who finished seventh with a PR throw of 42.11m.
  • The 4x100m relay team of Lianna Shakoor, Charlotte Deines, Sydney Workman, and Jadyn Haywood finished fourth at the Tennessee Invite with the second-fastest time in Dayton history at 45.92. 
  • Freshman Simone Bessong was back in action at the Tennessee Invite and posted the third-fastest 200m time (24.04) in Dayton history and tied for the fifth-fastest mark in 100m (11.94).
  • Sophomores Jameson Pillifant and Mariya Washington both cracked the top-five all-time at the Tennessee Invite. Pillifant recorded the fourth-fastest 100m hurdles time at UD (14.25).  Mariya Washington ran a personal best 56.01, which is the fifth-fastest time in program history.
