DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team will host Akron on Tuesday, April 28 for a midweek game at 3 p.m.
The game will be a Dollar Dog Day, where fans can purchase a hot dog for one dollar through the sixth inning. Austin McNabb will get the start for Dayton.
LAST TIME OUT
The FlyBoys swept St. Bonaventure on the road last weekend, improving to 9-12 in the Atlantic 10.
Michael Smith Jr. led Dayton with a .500/.538/.833 slash line and two triples. The junior also had four RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases. John Delgado pitched all seven innings in Sunday's 8-0 shutout, striking out seven batters and allowing just two hits. Ryan MacDougall hit the weekend's lone home run in the FlyBoys' 7-6 win on Sunday.
SCOUTING AKRON
Akron is 20-24 after sweeping Ohio last weekend, including winning the first game 21-7 in seven innings.
Brody Chrisman leads Akron with a .384 batting average, 39 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. Tuesday's probable starter, John Allen, has a 7.42 ERA in 16 appearances this season. The redshirt junior has struck out 22 batters.
LAST MEETING
The Flyers are 8-3 against the Zips, defeating Akron 14-11 in a road game back in March. Dayton had 5 home runs in the win.
Colin Lynch, Ryan MacDougall and Michael Smith Jr. had three RBIs in the win, each hitting a home run. Five FlyBoys also recorded a stolen base. Dayton's pitchers struck out seven batters, led by Carson Samuels' three punchouts.
UP NEXT
Dayton will host La Salle on May 1-3. Friday's game will feature Baseball Bingo for fans in attendance.
