DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team will play its final midweek game of the season, facing Notre Dame at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio on May 12.
The game will begin at 6 p.m. The ballpark is hosting a Desserts on Deck event, featuring dessert food trucks. The game and Desserts on Deck event are free.
LAST TIME OUT
UD went 1-2 against George Mason in the team's final homestand this season. The FlyBoys won the opening game 11-6 before dropping the second two games.
Ryan MacDougall led Dayton with a .462 batting average, going 6-for-15 with two doubles and three home runs. John Delgado put in 6.2 innings of work in Saturday's start, striking out six batters and posting a 1.35 ERA. Grayson Carpenter's home run on Saturday broke the single-season home run record.
SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
The Fighting Irish are 27-20 overall and 11-16 in the ACC. Notre Dame has won eight-straight games, including their home series with Oakland this past weekend. They will finish their regular season against Pitt next weekend.
The Fighting Irish's catcher, Mark Quatrani, was named a Buster Posey Collegiate Catcher of the Week and ACC Player of the Week last week after going 9-for-14 in wins over Central Michigan, Milwaukee and Stanford. Shortstop Noah Coy was also named a Brooks Wallace Award semifinalist on April 22. Bino Watters leads Notre Dame with a .375 batting average and 72 hits.
LAST MEETING
Dayton is 12-46 against Notre Dame, dating back to 1922. The Fighting Irish have won three straight meetings.
In their last matchup, Notre Dame won 14-5 back in 2009.
UP NEXT
The FlyBoys will end the regular season with a road series with George Washington on May 14-16.
