UD men's soccer senior midfielder Tye Stebbins (Zionsville, IN) was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the week ending September 19 after being named the Dayton Marriott Flyer Classic MVP.
Stebbins tallied two goals in the Flyers 2-1 win over Wright State in front of a record 1,865 fans at Baujan Field Friday night. Stebbins scored the first goal in the game's 72nd minute and then ended the match 9:35 into overtime blasting home a rebound from Nate Darr (Centerville, OH).
On Sunday, Stebbins picked up the secondary assist on the opening goal of UD's 2-1 win over Evansville as the Flyers won the Dayton Marriott Flyer Classic with a 2-0 record.
Joining Stebbins on the All-Classic team were teammates Matt Troop (Peachtree City, GA), who made nine saves on the weekend recording wins in his first two starts; Dasan Robinson (Elyria, OH) who scored Sunday off Stebbins' assist and assisted on Stebbins' first goal Friday night, and Dan Hartwig (St. Louis, MO) who anchored the revamped backline for the Flyers over the weekend.
Dayton (2-3-1) will face Eastern Illinois on Friday at 7:30 at Baujan Field before opening Atlantic 10 play October 1 at St. Bonaventure.
