SCOTT NAMED ATLANTIC 10 CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jan. 24, 2005

University of Dayton sophomore forward Monty Scott has been named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week after UD won two games and moved into first place in the A-10 West Division. Scott shared the honor with the star of the first-place team in the A-10 East, Temple guard Mardy Collins.

Scott led UD to wins over Saint Joseph's (58-54 on Wednesday) and La Salle (66-58 on Saturday). The Reynoldsburg, Ohio native matched his career high with 25 points in the La Salle win, making five of seven three-point attempts. Two of those treys came late in the second half when the Explorers had pulled to within four points of the Flyers.

He averaged 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds during the week, and shot .636 (14-22) FG, and .545 (6-11) from 3-pt. range. During UD's five-game winning streak, Scott is averaging 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds, and shooting 51% from the field.

Dayton is 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the Atlantic 10 this season. UD plays at Rhode Island on Thursday, and George Washington on Sunday, before returning home on Wednesday, February 2, to face Fordham. Thursday's game at Rhode Island begins at 7:00 p.m. EST.
