FLYERS FINISH STRONG IN ALL-OHIO CHAMPIONSHIPS

DELAWARE, OH - The University of Dayton cross country program ran in the All-Ohio Championships today in Delaware, OH. The women's team finished eighth out of the Division I teams, with the men coming in seventh.

Leading the women was Dianne Striebel (19:23), who finished in 32nd position. Also scoring for the Flyers were freshmen Amy Kempf (19:41), Anne Oltman (20:00), Jacqueline Jaworek (20:08) and sophomore Corey Fullenkamp (20:16), all finishing in the top 81 runners.

The defensive specialists for the women were junior Meg Watkins (20:19) and senior Sarah Kessler (20:30).

Beata Rudzinska of Akron won the individual title, which was enough to lift the Zips into first place in the team competition as well.

The men were once again led by freshman Mike Andersen, with a time of 26:59 which placed him 36th. It was the fourth time he's lead the Flyers in the fourth race of his college career. Also scoring for the Flyers were sophomores Billy Przybyla (27:44), Michael Connolly (27:51), Daniel Sammons (28:04), and freshman Matt Peters (28:25).

Finishing in the defensive specialist position for the Flyers were juniors Matt Danis (28:31) and Eric Contreras (28:37).

Otterbein's Mike Sawicki won the individual title, while Ohio State won the team title for the men.

The Flyers split up for their next meets, with the women heading to the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, IN, and the men heading to the Flacon Invitational in Bowling Green, OH. Both meets are on Saturday, October 15.
