Freshman outside hitter Kortney Norris was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday for the second time this season after leading Dayton to a 3-0 week with wins over IUPUI, Duquesne and Saint Louis.
Norris (Indianapolis, IN) averaged 3.29 kills, 0.77 digs and 4.15 points per game this past week as the Flyers increased their winning streak to eight consecutive matches. She posted a season-high 21 kills in a 3-1 win over Duquesne on Friday. Norris then followed with 14 kills and five blocks to help UD overcome an 0-2 deficit in a 3-2 victory over Saint Louis on Saturday.
During the Flyers' current eight-match winning streak, Norris leads the team with 3.69 kills per game including seven consecutive double-digit kill performances. Overall on the year, she is third on the team with 2.85 kills per game and is fourth with 32 blocks. Norris has reached double-figures in kills 14 times this season including six of seven conference matches.
Dayton returns to action this weekend with two A-10 road matches in Philadelphia. The Flyers face La Salle on Friday at 7 p.m. UD then takes on Temple on Saturday at 4 p.m. in a rematch of the 2003 Atlantic 10 Championship Match.
