ROBYNNE GREEN RECOGNIZED AS A-10'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Oct. 31, 2005

The Dayton volleyball team had a successful week after winning both of its matches and clinching at least a share of the A-10 West Division Title. Sophomore Robynne Green was rewarded for leading the way by being named the A-10 Volleyball Player of the Week.

Green, an outside hitter from Palatine, IL, helped the Flyers defeat conference foe Xavier 3-2 on Thursday night. She recorded 20 kills, one service ace, and two blocks in the match.

UD followed Thursday's performance with a 3-0 sweep of Rhode Island on Friday at the Frericks Center. Green led the team with 18 kills while hitting .720. She added six blocks and four digs. The victory increased Dayton's winning streak to a conference-best 12 matches.

Overall, Green trails only Faye Barhorst for Dayton in most kills this season. In conference play however, Green is leading the way with 161. She also ranks fourth on the team in assists with 20.

UD will go on the road to wrap up its regular season against Saint Louis and Duquesne. The Flyers (17-9, 10-1), reigning back-to-back Atlantic 10 Champions, have locked up a berth in the Atlantic 10 Championship, and need one victory to clinch the top overall seed.
