The University of Dayton softball team will start the first game of their spring break trip as they travel to Tennessee to take on Lipscomb University (11-10) on Saturday at Noon Eastern Time.
The games will be the first of three doubleheaders in four days. After playing Lipscomb, Dayton will then travel to Middle Tennessee State (4-14) to take on the Bruins Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. Finally, UD will make a trip back into Nashville to face Belmont University (6-12) Monday at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.Â
Dayton resumed their season after 15 days off, with a loss to Ball State, 8-5 in 11 innings on Tuesday at Patterson Park.
Shannon St. Clair led the team with a 2-for-4 performance which included a walk. Christina Vetter was 2-for-5 with an RBI single. Cassie Gross was also 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Tamsyn Kellough scored one of Dayton's eight runs.
Melissa Myher pitched 10.1 innings for the UD but fell to 1-2 on the year. Chelsea Grozenski finished the last inning for the Flyers as she got the final two outs after allowing only two hits, striking out one and allowing only one earned run.
Following three days of road games in Tennessee, the Flyers will travel to Pittsburgh to face Robert Morris Thursday.
Dayton will then return home to play their first game ever at UD Arena Softball Stadium on Saturday, March 26. The Flyers will face national power Massachusetts in their Atlantic 10 opener at 1 p.m.
