FLYERS FALTER AT CINCINNATI IN FOUR GAMES

Oct. 31, 2006

CINCINNATI
-  Visiting Dayton was stymied by a stingy Cincinnati defense as the Bearcats beat the Flyers, 3-1 (30-27, 28-30, 30-25, 30-23) on Tuesday night. UD fell to 20-7 overall this season with just its second non-conference loss to an opponent not receiving votes in the CSTV/AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.

The Flyers, who average a .261 team hitting percentage to their opponents .178, were held to their third lowest total of the season with a .152 hitting percentage against the Bearcats. Despite a strong defensive effort by Cincinnati including a 35-dig effort by Jamie Frey, four different Flyers reached double figures in kills.

The duo of Faye Barhorst and Jamie-Lee Richards each tallied 15 kills on the night. Barhorst also had six blocks while Richards added three of her own.

Junior Robynne Green hit a team-high .320 with 13 kills and six blocks while Nicole Bateman tallied her 13th double-double of the season with 11 kills and 17 digs.

Defensively, junior libero Adrienne Green led the way with 26 digs while redshirt sophomore Erin Schroeder had 11 digs to go along with 53 assists.

Dayton will take the weekend off before returning to action with a pair of conference matches at Frericks Center. UD plays host to Duquesne on Nov. 10 (7 p.m. ET) and Saint Louis on Nov. 11 (5 p.m. ET) to close out the A-10 regular season schedule.
