YOUNG FLYERS GARNER ALL-CONFERENCE AND NATIONAL HONORS

Philadelphia, PA -  University of Dayton women's soccer teammates Mandi Back and Kristen Persichini were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team in voting conducted among the Conference's head coaches. The Flyers also placed a conference-leading three players on the All-Rookie team. Bäck was named to the All-Rookie team along with Colleen Gibson and Caitlin Proffitt. Sophomore Amanda Gallow was named to the Academic All-Conference team.

Back, a freshman from North Olmsted, Ohio, leads the Flyers in almost all statistical categories including goals (seven), points (15), shots (52), and tied for the lead in game-winners (2). The midfielder recently moved to number nine on the all-time top freshman point totals list for the Flyers. For her performance last weekend, including a hat trick and an additional goal and assist, she was named A-10 Rookie of the Week.

Persichini, a junior from Hudson, Ohio, started and played every minute (1616:54) of all 17 of the Flyers' games this year. She anchors a defense that has only given up 20 goals in 17 games and recorded five shut-outs on the year. She has scored three goals on only 13 shots with eight of those being on goal.

As a selection to the All-Rookie team, freshman Colleen Gibson has started all 17 games this year. The midfielder from Moreno Valley, California, is second on the team in shots, shots on goal, and assists. She had the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Rhode Island on October 8. She is one of three freshman, including Back and Proffitt, who account for 41% (13g 4 a) of the total offensive production of the team.

Proffitt, a freshman forward from Cincinnati, Ohio, has also started all 17 games for the Flyers. She was named A-10 Rookie of the Week on October 10 for her performances against Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She is second on the team in goals, third in shots, third in points, and tied for first in game-winners.

A Lakota East graduate from West Chester, Ohio, Gallow has scored three goals on the season including two in conference play, while starting all 17 matches. As a forward, she has scored three goals this season including two in conference play. She is also a nominee for CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors. Gallow is a pre-physical therapy major with an impressive 3.90 cumulative grade point average.

It was also announced today that Back was selected for the SoccerBuzz.com National Elite Team of the Week for the week ending October 29. The Flyers begin their quest for the Atlantic 10 Championship starting on Thursday against the Rhode Island Rams at 6 p.m. UD finished the regular season 8-6-3 overall and 6-3-0 in conference play.
