BRONX, NY - Five Dayton players were named to the 2006 Atlantic 10 Baseball All-Conference teams on Tuesday as UD prepared for the upcoming A-10 Championships on practice day at Houlihan Park on the campus of Fordham University.

When the third-seeded Flyers take on sixth-seeded George Washington on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. ET three First Team All-Conference selections will take to the field for Dayton. Second baseman Galen Schumm earned first team accolades for the second straight season while shortstop Michael Massa and relief pitcher Craig Rohren were named for the first time. Also, outfielder Bryan Chandler earned second team honors while starting pitcher Luke Trubee was an honorable mention selection.

Schumm, a senior from Rockford, Ohio, has earned All-Conference honors each of the last three years including a 2004 designation at Olney Central JC. This year, Schumm leads the Flyers in doubles with a school-record tying 23 and home runs with 8 and a .345 batting average. He tallied two multi-home run days including a two homer performance against Richmond. Schumm was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on March 6 after going 10-for-20 with five doubles, six runs scored and four RBI in a three-game series at High Point.

Massa, a junior from Naperville, Ill, leads the Flyers in triples (7), stolen bases (20) and runs scored (57) this season. He has been Dayton's leadoff batter and shortstop in every game over the past two seasons and has joined with Schumm to help UD turn 51 doubles plays this season. Massa had a 20-game hitting streak earlier this season and had reached base 48 of 106 times (45.3 percent) he has started an inning at the plate and has scored 42 of those times. He was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on April 10 after hitting .421 over a four-game stretch with two doubles, a triple, home run, 10 runs scored and nine RBI.

Rohren, a senior from Bloomington, Ill., has converted 31 of 34 saves over the past three seasons including a school-record 10 this year. He has held his opponents to a .216 batting average against him while striking out 24 batters in 32.2 innings pitched. Rohren has a 3.03 ERA and a 4-1 record in 24 appearances and has pitched more than one inning in seven of his last 14 appearances. He is the all-time leader in saves at UD with 17 in just two seasons.

Chandler, a senior from Kettering, Ohio, was an All-Championship Team selection in 2005 and has tallied at least 40 RBI for the second straight season with the Flyers. After starting off with just seven hits in his first 45 at bats, Chandler has lifted his average to .295 this season with 16 doubles, four triples, three home runs and 33 runs scored. He is also tied for the team lead with three outfield assists.

Trubee, a senior from Xenia, Ohio, is Dayton's all-time leader in wins (29) and strikeouts (212) while ranking second in career innings pitched (306.0). While holding an 8-6 record overall with a 4.32 ERA, Trubee was 5-3 against Atlantic 10 opponents with five complete games and a 2.59 ERA. Overall, he struck out 76 batters while surrendering just 21 walk and holding opponents to a .282 batting average against him.
