In addition to his second-quarter touchdown run, O'Dell was also UD's top receiver with five grabs for 76 yards. Nick Ruhe and Matt Champa were next with four for 72 and 48 yards respectively, followed by J Michael Jonard's three catches for 58 yards.

Castaneda added four punt returns for 77 yards, and tied for the second-most tackles on the team. His seven hits matched safety Brandon Cramer. Flyer Steve McDonald led the way with nine (four solo).

Valparaiso came into the game leading the PFL in rushing, averaging 239.9 yards a game. The Dayton D held VU to less than half that (114 yards), including just 30 in the first half.
