KEVIN HOYNG NAMED PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

University of Dayton senior quarterback Kevin Hoyng has been named Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Flyers to a 35-16 win over previously undefeated San Diego on Saturday.

Hoyng, a 2003 graduate of Coldwater High School in Coldwater, Ohio, accounted for 379 yards total offense and four touchdowns in the victory. He completed 23-of-29 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns, and a career-high 127 yards in 19 carries (6.7 avg.) with two rushing touchdowns.

Not only did Hoyng quarterback UD to the win that lifted them into a tie for first place in the PFL, but he also set four Flyer season records during the game. His 169 completions, 23 TD passes, 2,414 yards passing and 2,907 yards in total offense are all new Dayton records. He already holds the school career records in those categories.

Hoyng has completed 60.8% of his passes (169 of 278), leads the team in rushing (493 yards) and is the UD co-leader in scoring (48 points).

UD is 8-1 on the season and likely to be ranked on top of the FCS Mid-Major rankings when they come out next week. The Flyers are 4-1 in the PFL, and tied for first in the league with Morehead State and San Diego. Dayton hosts Butler on Saturday. Senior Day kickoff will be at 1 p.m. ET.
