DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's soccer team remains atop the Atlantic 10 Conference after a 2-0 decision over Rhode Island on Sunday at Baujan Field. UD recorded its 10th win of the season moving to 10-3-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the A-10.
Senior Niki Reed tallied her seventh shutout of the year and 13th of her career, which moves her into third place on UD's all-time shutout list. She posted five saves on the afternoon as Dayton moves its home record to 6-1-0.
The Rams fell to 7-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the Conference with the loss.
The lone goal of the first half came from Dayton senior Alli Foust who scored from seven yards out off a deflection from a Rhode Island defender. It was Foust's second goal of the year and put the Flyers up 1-0 in the 24th minute.
URI remained scoreless in the second half and UD put another in the back of the net during the 77th minute on an unassisted goal from Mandi Back. The sophomore forward blasted a shot in from 30-yards out landing just inside the post for her A-10 leading 10th goal of the year securing a 2-0 win over the Rams.
