University of Dayton senior defensive end Scott Vossler (St. Marys, OH) has been selected to the Associated Press' FCS All-America Second Team, it was announced Wednesday.
The 2008 Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Year, Vossler led Dayton in seven defensive categories - sacks (8.5), interceptions (3), QB hurries (7), fumble recoveries (3), fumbles forced (3, tied) and blocked kicks (3). He also had 34 solo tackles and 42 total tackles, batted down four passes and scored two TD's.
Vossler is a two-time First Team All-PFL selection and a three-time member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll. This season, he was UD's White-Allen Most Valuable Player and a team co-captain.
The Flyers were 9-3 in 2008, with all three losses by a total of 14 points. Dayton finished tied for second in the Pioneer Football League, and led the PFL in scoring defense, total defense, rushing defense and sacks.
