DAYTON, Ohio - Marshall MacDonald belted a two-out home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Dayton over Wright State, 12-10 in a non-conference baseball game that lasted nearly four hours at Time Warner Cable Stadium on Wednesday.

MacDonald's fifth home run in his last six games improved the Flyers to 19-16 overall this season while Wright State fell to 16-16 overall.

The reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week made his only hit of the game count in the 10th inning as he extended his hitting streak to nine games to help UD overcome a blown 5-3 lead only to force extra innings with a five-run outburst in the eighth inning. Overall the Flyers were out hit 16-13, but stranded just seven runners to the Raiders' 13.

Senior Kevin Miller finished 3-for-6 with a run scored and a RBI while Scott Dunwoody, Cole Tyrell and Jacob Spaeth each added a pair of hits for Dayton. Dunwoody was 2-for-5 with a sacrifice bunt, one run scored and three RBI while Tyrell went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Spaeth was hit by pitch twice, walked and doubled to finish 2-for-2 with four runs scored and two RBI.

Ryan Nevill and McDonald were each hit once by WSU pitchers with Nevill scoring twice. Myles Swartzel singled and drove in two runs for a Flyer offense that walked three times and struck out just twice overall.

Freshman Tim Corbey earned his first collegiate victory after allowing just one earned run on four hits in 2.1 innings pitched. He struck out two and walked none to even his record at 1-1 on the season.

Dayton used a total of seven pitchers on the afternoon with Jake Hoover hurling the first 4.0 innings and allowing three runs on six hits. He gave way to sophomore Chris Beesley who surrendered only two hits in a scoreless fifth inning on the mound.

Senior Ryan Hill gave up one run in a walk and a hit while striking out a pair in the sixth inning and faced the first batter of the seventh inning before Wright State rallied off the duo of Alex Dye and Quinn Haselhorst. Dye allowed three runs on three walks and one hit in 0.1 innings pitched while Haselhorst gave up two unearned run on one hit in 0.2 innings pitched.

Freshman Burny Mitchem came on to strikeout two of the three batters he faced before making way for Corbey to earn his first win of his career.

WSU opened the scoring with one run in the first and two more in the second before UD rallied with a pair of its own in the bottom of the third inning. Jimmy Roesinger ledoff with a five-pitch walk and Jacob Spaeth was hit by pitch to give the Flyers runners on first and second with no outs. Kevin Miller laid down a bunt towards third base and when the hard charging first baseman tried to make the play there was no one covering at first, which allowed Miller to leg out an infield single that loaded the bases. Scott Dunwoody followed with a RBI single up the middle to plate the first run and after one out Myles Swartzel lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to make it a 3-2 deficit.

Dayton took its first lead of the game in the fifth inning on a rally that began with Jacob Spaeth working a 2-2 count before being hit by pitch for the second time in the contest on the sixth delivery from the Wright State pitcher in the same at-bat. Kevin Miller followed with a single through the left side of the infield to put two runners on for Scott Dunwoody who attempted a sacrifice bunt. However, the throw from the pitcher was wide of first base and the fielder's glove collided with Dunwoody running down the line for an error that allowed Spaeth to score from second and Miller to advance to third. Marshall MacDonald was hit by another pitch to load the bases with no outs and after a pitching change Myles Swartzel hit a hard ground ball up the middle that the Raiders turned into a double play as Miller scored from third for a 4-3 Flyer lead.

Ryan Nevill continued the offense for UD in the sixth inning with a leadoff single up the middle. Cole Tyrell followed with a base hit of his own through the right side of the infield before the pair moved to second and third respectively on a sacrifice bunt by Jimmy Roesinger. Jacob Spaeth then sent in another run on a RBI single through the right side as Dayton went ahead 5-3 after six innings.

WSU blasted a two-out grand slam over the centerfield wall to regain the momentum and the lead 7-5 before adding two more runs in the top of the eighth to take a 9-5 advantage. UD countered with five runs in its half of the eighth to take back control of the game momentarily. Ryan Nevill was hit with the first pitch of the frame and Cole Tyrell followed with a single through the left side of the infield to put two runners on. Jonathan Castine then pinch hit and hit a slow rolling ground ball that allowed him to reach first and Tyrell to finish safe at second on an error by the second baseman. Jacob Spaeth drew a four-pitch walk with the bases loaded to send in one run followed by an RBI single to left field by Kevin Miller that pulled UD to within two runs. Scott Dunwoody stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and no outs to deliver a two-RBI single through the left side of the infield and Myles Swartzel added a RBI single up the middle to later plate Dunwoody for a 10-9 Dayton lead heading into the ninth inning.

John Kopilchack hit his second home run in as many innings for Wright State on a blast that bent just inside the right field pole to extend the game into extra innings.

After WSU was held off the scoreboard in the top of the 10th inning, Jacob Spaeth ledoff the bottom half with a double to right field. After two fly outs, Marshall MacDonald blasted the first pitch he saw over the left field wall to give Dayton a 12-10 victory.

Dayton will hit the road for a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series this weekend at George Washington. The Flyers and Colonials will take part in a three-game set Friday (3 p.m. ET), Saturday (1 p.m. ET) and Sunday (Noon ET) that can be followed with Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
