UD ATHLETICS TO HELP WELCOME INCOMING FRESHMEN WITH LIVING-LEARNING TAILGATE

Dayton, Ohio - The University of Dayton Athletics Division is doing its part to help welcome the class of 2012 to campus. As part of the University's Freshmen Orientation Program, UD is hosting the Living-Learning Tailgate - sponsored by BW3's and Donatos - this Saturday, Aug. 16 from 6-8 p.m. in the portion of the P-parking lot located directly in front of the Frericks Center.

The tailgating leads up to two events: the UD women's soccer Red and White Game at 8 p.m. at Baujan Field and the Flyer volleyball Red and Blue Match at 8:30 p.m. in the Frericks Center. Admission is free to all of the events.

The Living-Learning Tailgate will include guest speakers: Flyer head football coach Rick Chamberlin, head men's basketball coach Brian Gregory, head volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield and Pride of Dayton band director Nikki Gross.

UD mascot Rudy Flyer will make an appearance, along with the Dayton cheerleaders. The Red Scare, UD's highly visible student spirit group, will also be present to recruit freshmen to its membership which is 1,300 strong.

Corporate partners will be distributing food and coupons, while UD Athletics will be handing out fall sports information, T-shirts and mini-balls.

Dayton women's soccer opens the regular season Friday, Aug. 22 when it takes on Indiana at Baujan Field at 7:30 p.m.

The Flyer volleyball squad opens on the road, playing in the Arizona State Classic Aug. 29-30. UD hosts the Dayton Flyer Invitational at the Frericks Center Sept. 5-6.
