It was a memorable 2007 for the Flyer fall sports that featured championship moments and exciting games.
Flyer Football finished the 2007 campaign 11-1 and was voted the Sports Network FCS Mid-Major National Champions after defeating No. 3 Albany 42-21 in the Gridiron Classic Bowl Game. UD also claimed the co-championship in the PFL, the school's ninth league title in the last 15 years.
On the court, Dayton Volleyball had one of the most dominant seasons in recent memory of any Atlantic 10 team with a 33-2 overall record including a 12-1 mark in Atlantic 10 play while winning its fourth consecutive A-10 Regular Season Championship. The Flyers also won the A-10 Tournament title for the fourth time in the last five seasons to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
UD women's soccer concluded the fall season with an overall record of 13-4-4 and 6-2-3 in the Atlantic 10. Dayton secured an A-10 Championship playoff berth for the 12th consecutive season and had the conference offensive player of the year, Mandi Bäck and the defensive player of the year, Niki Reed.
The Flyer men's soccer program finished last season with a 10-4-5 overall, advanced to the opening round of the 2007 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Championship and were as high as No. 3 the NSCAA/adidas® Middle Atlantic Regional Rankings.
