FLYER PLAYER BLOG - KELLY JOHNSTON

Sept. 30, 2008

DAYTON, Ohio - In the latest edition of the Flyer Player Blogs, freshman Kelly Johnston describes life at UD as a first-year student and discusses the transition between high school and college.

By Kelly Johnston
As a freshman student-athlete here at the University of Dayton track and field has played a huge role in helping me meet new people as well as manage my time. Because I was a very busy high school student involved in sports and academics, running here and keeping up with school work has not been a dramatic transition for me. I feel like high school taught me how to appropriately manage my time equally between academics and athletics.

Most importantly, track has allowed me to become part of a family-like environment. I am surrounded by girls with the same interest as me, making it very easy to socialize and make friends with them. So far everyone has been so welcoming and friendly by providing me with help and encouragement when needed. I am really looking forward to the track season beginning and I am happy to share it with my new teammates!
