DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will wrap up a two-game road swing at Richmond on Wednesday, Feb. 18. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and the action can be followed with live stats at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
The Flyers enter Wednesday's contest 15-11 overall and tied for eighth in the Atlantic 10 with a 4-6 record.
Dayton has won two of its last three games, but is coming off a lost to the nationally-ranked Xavier Musketeers Sunday at the Cintas Center, 78-57. Junior Kendel Ross finished with a team-high 17 points and dished out three helpers, while sophomore Kristin Daugherty tallied 13 points and four rebounds for UD.
Ross has been contributing in big ways this season after earning a spot in the starting line-up. One of Dayton's best bench performers over the past two seasons, this year Ross has scored in double figures 14 times and is UD's third-leading scorer with 11.0 points per game.
Ross has collected five double-double's on the year and has been stepping it up in A-10 play. She is averaging 11.9 ppg, 5.6 ppg, 3.0 apg, 1.0 spg, and 0.8 bpg in conference games.
SCOUTING RICHMOND
Richmond (18-6, 6-3) has won two of its last three and is coming off a win over Rhode Island on Valentine's Day, 59-54.
The Spiders are led by sophomore Brittani Shells who is tops in scoring with 15.6 points per game, which ranks third in the Atlantic 10.
Richmond is committing 4.5 less turnovers than opponents this season, which ranks first in the conference. The team is grabbing 10.8 steals per game, which also leads the A-10 (28th in the nation). The Spiders have grabbed double-digit steals in 17 of 25 games.
The team is coached by Michael Shafer who is in his 4th season at the helm. He owns a 58-58 record in his four years as a head coach at Richmond.
SERIES STUFF
Richmond leads the series 8-3 and has won six of the last seven outings. The last time out the Spiders edged past the Flyers 68-66 on Feb. 20, 2008 at UD Arena.
