Dayton, OH - Despite an impressive doubles performance, the University of Dayton's women's tennis team lost their first match of 2010 to Ball State University on Saturday.

Julie Kirkland and Loni Dickerhoof defeated the Cardinal's Thomson/Boulieris duo, 8-6, at No. 1 Doubles. Junior pair Kelly O'Connell and Laina Grote also contributed to UD's doubles point with an 8-3 win at No. 2.

Kirkland, who was undefeated on the day, topped Dena Boulieris, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. Also picking up a win for the Flyers was Laina Grote who came back from a 4-6 deficit to beat Sarah Hebble 4-6, 6-3, 6-6 (3).

The Flyers, now 0-1 on the year, will have a few weeks off before they host Kennesaw State on Feb. 6.
