DAYTON RAKES IN OCSA ALL-OHIO ACCOLADES

DAYTON, Ohio -- Five University of Dayton women’s soccer student-athletes were named to the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association’s All-Ohio First Team on Thursday, the most of any Division I school in the state.

Mandi Bäck and Kathleen Beljan repeated last year’s feat, earning a spot on the All-Ohio team for the second straight season. Lauren MacCormick, Colleen Williams and Katherine Boone also were tabbed as All-Ohio team members.

The OCSA also named its Div. I Academic All-Ohio Team on Thursday. Four Flyers, including Kelsey Miller and Emily Kenyon were named to the First Team, in addition to Beljan and MacCormick. Dayton’s quartet of first team selections were the most of any Div. I institution in the state. Kelly Blumenschein earned a nod on the OCSA’s Second Team.

Last season, the Flyers advanced to the second round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship before falling to the Virginia Tech Hokies 3-1 at Baujan Field on Nov. 15.

Bäck became the women’s soccer program’s first-ever First Team NSCAA All-America selection and Boone was named Defensive Player of the Year by the Atlantic 10. Back, MacCormick, Beljan and Boone were also First Team All-A-10 while Williams was named the conference’s Rookie of the Year.

Dayton loses just three players from the 2009 squad that went 16-1-6, won the A-10 regular and tournament titles, and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
