PITTSBURGH – The University of Dayton finished third at the 22nd annual Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Championship Saturday morning at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh.
For the second consecutive season, senior Maureen Bulgrin placed third in the Championship with a 17:28 5K time. With a sixth-place finish senior Liz Coorey set a personal-record of 17:42 to join Bulgrin on the A-10 all-conference team. Junior Elissa Mason also set a PR on her way to all-conference honors in 15th-place (18:05).
The Flyers finished with 75 points featuring four runners in the top 20. Including Coorey and Mason, UD had four harriers with personal bests with sophomore Taylor Beyerle clocking in at 18:17, and junior Lindsey Cummings finihsing with an 18:29 PR.
Richmond tallied 43 points to record its third A-10 title and second in the last three years with five runners in the top 14. Megan Hogan of 11th-place George Washington won her second consecutive individual title with a record time of 16:56 – improving on the previous record by 27 seconds.
The Flyers have finished in the top three in the last three seasons at the A-10 Championship meet. UD won its first-ever Championship title last season in St. Louis.
Dayton will compete at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Rochester, Mich., on Saturday, Nov. 13.
