NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton freshman Sean Keating earned the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week award for April 19.
The recognitions are Keating’s first Atlantic 10 weekly awards. He is the second Flyer in a row to earn rookie of the week honors. Last week, UD’s Matt Buse took home the A-10 Rookie of the Week award.
Keating finished in second place among individuals at the 2010 Detroit Titans Invitational. The second-place finish was the best in Keating’s brief Flyer career.
The freshman from Cincinnati shot an even-par 72 in round two, which was the low score of the tournament. Keating finished four-over for the tournament.
Even though he is a freshman, Keating leads UD with a 75.0 stroke average through 20 rounds. In addition, 19 of his 20 rounds this season have been in the 70s.
Keating is UD’s fourth weekly Atlantic 10 winner this year. Michael Oberschmidt and Jeff Hodapp earned A-10 Player of the Week honors earlier this year during the fall season and Buse garnered the Rookie of the Week award a week ago.
The Flyers will wrap up the 2009-10 campaign at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Championship. The event will take place from April 30 – May 2 in Howie-In-The-Hills, Fla.
