GAME NOTES
DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton Flyers host a midweek matchup against Division III Wittenberg on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. ET at Time Warner Cable Stadium.
The Flyers are fresh off of a sweep, in which the talented arms of Cameron Hobson and Mike Hauschild showed what they were capable of. Hobson pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts and two earned runs against. Hauschild had one earned run against and nine strikeouts in seven innings of action.
More importantly, the offensive bats that set a number of UD records last season reignited. The Flyers outscored Temple 43-16, while six players hit .375 or better in the series. Cole Tyrell had a grand slam and seven total RBI in the weekend matchup. Joe Gayda had a double and was .500. He drew three walks and was hit-by-pitch once.
The Flyers welcome the Wittenberg Tigers. The Tigers are 9-11 this season and are led by Grant Goodwin. Goodwin is hitting .389 this season with 12 RBI. Mike Yednock has seven doubles and 11 RBI. Ray Noe is hitting .257 with 14 RBI.
The Flyers will start right-handed pitcher Eric Wagner. The Tigers have not named a starter but both teams are expected to utilize their pitching depth in a staff day.
First pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m. ET. Fans are asked to bring a used ball glove to donate to the “Good of Gloves”, admission to the park is free of charge.
