NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Dayton’s Chris Lemon claimed his second Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week honor this season, claiming the first two awarded so far.
Lemon finished first at the Bowling Green State University Mel Brodt Invitational in his first 8K race this season. The senior from Bowling Green, Ohio placed first out of 107 runners and set a new Dayton senior 8k record of 24:13, breaking the previous mark by 11 seconds.
Chris edged out his twin brother Matt (24:21) by eight seconds. It’s the second consecutive week the brothers have finished 1-2. They helped the Flyers defend their Mel Brodt Invitational title, UD winning with 23 points.
Lemon, who also earned the first Performer of the Week honors of the season after winning the Flyer 5K in a course-record time.
The Flyers will run at the National Catholic Invitational this Friday, Sept. 17 in South Bend, Ind. Race time is set for 5 p.m. ET.
