UP NEXT FOR UD MEN'S GOLF IS THE JOHN PIPER INTERCOLLEGIATE

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Fresh off a sizzling second place finish in their season opener, the University of Dayton Flyers head back to the links to compete at the 2010 John Piper Intercollegiate.

The John Piper Intercollegiate men's golf tournament will be taking place next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 27-28) at the Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Stone Ridge presents a par-72, 7,064-yard course. Competing this year will be 11 schools and a total of 12 teams. Monday's action will tee off at 8 a.m. ET with players beginning on the first and 10th tees -- 36 holes continuous play.  Tuesday's action will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET.

UD will send six golfers, five team members and one individual, to the tournament.

The Flyers have finished in sixth place in back-to-back appearances. This will be the sixth time in the last seven years Dayton will have competed in the event and fourth year in a row.

Dayton placed in second at the 2010 Fossum/Spartan Invitational to open the fall season. Seniors Chris Woeste and Jeff Hodapp each fired a second round 74 to pace the Flyer attack.

Speaking of Hodapp, in last year’s John Piper Intercollegiate, he shot a career-best 70.

This is the second fall tournament for UD this season. Dayton thus far after two rounds of play is averaging 302.5 strokes.
