After a bye week, No. 15 Dayton travels to Philadelphia to take on the La Salle Explorers on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. ET. UD continues its road trip on Sunday, Oct. 9 when the Flyers match up with Fordham at 1 p.m. ET.
SERIES INFORMATION
VS. LA SALLE: The Flyers are 16-2-0 all-time against the Explorers. They last met on Oct. 3, 2010. UD won 2-0 with
Colleen Williams scoring both goals. The Flyer defense held La Salle to just two shots on goal.
VS. FORDHAM: The Flyers are 12-1-3 against the Rams. The last match between the two was Oct. 01, 2010 with Dayton coming out on top 4-0 on senior night. Four different Flyers scored with four different Flyers providing the assists.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
LA SALLE: The Explorers are 10-0-1 going into the Friday match against the Flyers. La Salle is the only team in NCAA Division I (men or women) that has not allowed a goal yet this season. La Salle is coming off of a 3-0 victory against St. Joseph’s. Freshman Kelsey Haycook leads the teams with nine goals on the season. She was also named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after posting her first career hat trick against St. Joseph’s. Sophomore Renee Washington is second in scoring with five goals. Redshirt senior keeper Melissa Sanger has yet to allow a goal this season and has recorded 30 saves this season.
FORDHAM: The Rams are 6-4-2 and 1-0-1 in the Atlantic 10. Fordham’s most recent match was a 1-0 victory over Temple with Kristina Maksuti scoring the lone goal. She leads the Rams in scoring with eight goals on the season. Rachel Suther, a 6-foot-2 junior goalkeeper, boasts a 1.76 GAA.

The Flyers continue their four-game Atlantic 10 road swing when they take on George Washington on Friday Oct. 14 in the nation’s capital, followed by an Oct. 16 match at Richmond.

Katherine Boone has 18 career shutouts - third all-time on Dayton’s career list. She needs two shutouts to take over second and 11 to tie with Stephanie Weisenfeld’s 29 clean sheets (1999-2002). Junior
Colleen Williams has 28 helpers, tying her for first and needs one more to have the career record outright.
LIVING THE AMERICAN DREAM
Dayton women’s soccer players
Josie Grant and
Katrin Loo were featured in Our Game Magazine article “Living And Playing The American Dream” that focused on international players competing for U.S. NCAA Division I women’s soccer programs. Loo is a sophomore forward from Tallinn, Estonia who plays on the Estonian national team. Grant is a senior forward from Wigton, England and played at the Blackburn Rovers Academy.
WILLY’S WISH
University of Dayton women’s soccer player Colleen ‘Willy’ Williams is continuing Willy’s Wish –Dollars for Dayton for the second consecutive season. Last year the Flyers fundraised more than $1,000 for a family in Dayton. Individuals are asked to donate just $1. The UD women’s soccer team will be collecting the $1 donations at their remaining four home games (Oct. 21, 23, 28 & 30). Willy’s Wish collection boxes will be located at both entrances of Baujan Field. NATIONALLY-RANKED UD
The Flyers (10-1-0) dropped one spot to No. 19 in the College Soccer America Top 25 after their bye week. Dayton is ranked No.17 in the TopDrawerSoccer Tournament 64 Rankings, moving up two spots from No.19 last week. UD remains No.1 in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region rankings for the sixth time this season and moved up to No. 15 in the NSCAA National Rankings from its No. 16 position last week. Dayton is No. 19 in the Soccer Times Top 25. The Flyers are also No. 17 in the latest NCAA RPI (Oct. 5).

A GREAT START
Dayton improved to 4-0 after capturing the Northwestern Lakeside Classic on Aug. 28. It marked the first time that the Flyers have started the season 4-0 since 1997.

Colleen Williams, a native of Titusville, N.J., leads the Atlantic 10 in assists (7) and assists per game (0.64). She is second in points (21) and fourth in goals (7). Last season she was tied for second in the nation in points (48).

Alysha Mallon has dished out four assists for the Flyers, including two game-winning assists – against Cal State Northridge to help UD win the Purdue Boilermaker Challenge Cup (Sept. 11) and against No. 25 Ohio State (Sept. 14). She was named a CS360 Primetime Performer of the Week for games Sept. 12-18.

LIBERTIN THE DREAM

Juliana Libertin, a member of the 2010 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, has already scored four goals this year, eclipsing her two goals scored in her freshman season. She is currently the second leading scorer on the team (4 g, 4 a, 12 pts). Her golden goal against Northwestern on Aug. 28 led the Flyers to the Lakeside Classic Championship. She also scored the game winner against Kentucky on Sept. 17. She is currently tied for fifth in the A-10 for points.
ONE OF THE NATION’S BEST
University of Dayton junior forward
Colleen Williams is among 42 female athletes named to the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy Watch List for the 2011 season. She was also one of 25 players recently selected as a Soccer America Preseason All-American. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer. Williams is averaging 1.91 ppg which is 29th best in the nation. She is also 11th in the NCAA in assists per game.
FANTASTIC FRESHMEN
Dayton’s freshmen have already made an impact.
Kelsey Smigel has notched three goals and three assists in eleven games with five starts.
Haley Keller has scored two game-winning goals, and also added an assist in eleven games played with one start.
Amanda Sivic (7 gp) and
Lacey Engle (4 gp) have put in solid minutes as well on the offense, while Alli Klinefelter has contributed defensively, playing in eight games.
FLYERS PICKED FOR A-10 THREE-PEAT
The 10-time Atlantic 10 women’s soccer regular season champion University of Dayton was chosen to win its third consecutive conference title, in voting conducted among the league’s head coaches. The Flyers also led the way with six players selected to the Preseason A-10 All-Conference (

SUCCESSFUL SENIORS
The Flyers have consistently won year in and year out. UD’s senior class owns the seventh best winning percentage in the country at .804 (58-11-8). FLYER SUCCESS
The Dayton women’s soccer program owns an overall record of 369-151-40 (.693) since it became a varsity program in 1984. The Flyers made NCAA Tournament Appearances in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009 and 2010, advancing to the second round in both 2009 and 2010, and to the Sweet Sixteen in 2001.
