Three University of Dayton women’s basketball players were named to the Capital One Academic All-District Women's Basketball Teams, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Senior Kristin Daugherty was a First Team honoree, while sophomore Kari Daugherty and junior Justine Raterman were named to the Second Team.
Kristin Daugherty, a communications and public relations major who carries a 3.81 GPA, has earned all-district honors for the third consecutive season. She is already a two-time Academic All-District Second Team selection (2008-09, 2009-10). Last year she was chosen as the female winner of the University of Dayton’s Presidential Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award, the most prestigious honor a student-athlete can receive at the University. She was one of five players named to the 2009-10 Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team.
Kari Daugherty, an education major with a 3.98 GPA, earns all-district honors in the first year she was eligible. She was a member of the 2009-10 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.
Raterman, a math education major with a 3.70 GPA, was the 2008-09 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year. She has twice earned A-10 Player of the Week honors this season, along with being named MVP of the Minnesota Subway Classic and named to the USC Women of Troy Basketball Classic. She is also a two-time member of the Atlantic 10 All-Championship
Kristin Daugherty, along with those from the other seven districts, will now move on to the national ballot. This year's Capital One Academic All-America team will be announced in late February.
