DAYTON ROUTS HOWARD 7-1
LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Dayton softball team flexed its offensive muscle with a 7-1 win over the Howard Bison on Saturday in the Red Raider Classic. Sophomore Kathleen Maloof homered twice, while junior Lauren Nacke hit her fourth home run of the season.
The Flyers also had outstanding pitching from junior Sarah Wedel. Wedel pitched a complete game and had five strikeouts, while allowing just one earned run. It was her first win of the season.
Howard opened up the scoring in the bottom of the third inning, but for the second day in a row, the Dayton offense showed its scoring capability.
Maloof swatted her first home run of the game in the fourth, following that, the flood gates opened in the fifth for a four-run inning.
Senior Emily Stegeman drove two runs in on a single in the fifth inning. With Stegeman on base, Maloof rocked her second home run of the game for two more runs.
Freshman Jenna Lopes hit a leadoff triple in the top of the sixth, which set up junior Brandy Brown to drive home Shelby Pohlman, who pinch ran for Lopes.
Nacke hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh to add to Dayton’s already comfortable lead.

Flyers Commit Two Errors In Loss To Red Raiders
LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Dayton softball team lost 11-0 to the No. 19/20 Texas Tech Red Raiders in five innings at the Red Raider Classic.
Freshman Alysha Isaacson was dealt her second loss of the season. Isaacson pitched 3.1 innings allowing seven earned runs. Amanda Daly threw 0.2 innings and had one strikeout.
Dayton faces Texas Tech on Saturday in its final game of the Red Raider Classic. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m.
