Final Results
COLUMBUS, Ohio – A cold and rainy Saturday didn’t stop the University of Dayton track and field team from having a number of personal records shattered at the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State. Seven personal records were broken this weekend at the two-day meet.
“We competed well in adverse weather conditions. It was a little disappointing that the weather did not hold out for us today,” said University of Dayton track and field head coach
Jason Francis said. “We were expecting some better performances today, but all things considered it was good preparation for the Atlantic 10 meet. You never know what the weather will bring, and the ladies showed that they can compete well despite the adverse conditions.”
Katrina Steinhauser set a new personal record and has the third best height in Dayton track and field history after placing seventh in the pole vault. Steinhauser had a mark of 12-01.50 (3.70m). Ashley Demange set a new personal record with a mark of 11-07.75 (3.55m), placing ninth. Hanna Krizmanic placed 10th also jumping 11-07.75, while Sarah Gaskell placed 13th with the same mark. Gaskell’s mark is a season-best.
Noelle Tazioli had a sixth-place finish in the 200 meter dash. Tazioli had a time of 24.84.
Ellie Grandi placed seventh in the high jump with a height of 5-03.00 (1.60m).
Christine Borchers placed 13th in the shot put. Borchers had a distance of 43-01.75 (13.15m) and set her best outdoor mark in the shot put.
Aly Weeman set a new personal record in the hammer throw with a distance of 166-08.00. Weeman’s mark improves upon her previous distance that ranks fourth in UD history.
Rachel Weber placed 10th in the 400 meter dash with a season-best time of 56.80. Maya Pedersen had a time of 57.07 setting a new personal record. Kelsey McDonald had a time of 1:00.83.
In the 100 meter dash Cassie Grandstaff had a time of 12.42.
In the 800 meter run Lizzie Gleason had a time of 2:18.46, which is a season-best for Gleason. Kassy Thomas had a time of 2:20.27.
Rabecca Maj placed 17th in the 100 meter hurdles on Saturday. Maj had a time of 14.88.
The 4x400 relay team had a time of 4:02.69 on Saturday.
On Friday, Elissa Mason placed 11th in the 1,500 meter run. Mason had a time of 4:36.12. Nicole Cargill finished in 4:40.32 setting a new personal record. Kelly Johnston crossed the line in 4:47.14.
Lindsey Cummings finished fifth in the steeplechase on Friday. Cummings ran the steeplechase in 10:57.36.
Renee Otte finished 15th in the discus throw. Otte had a distance of 141-08 (43.19) setting a new personal record. Christine Borchers had a distance of 138-08 (42.28m). Aly Weeman had a mark of 133-02 (40.60m).
Katie Ollier finished led Dayton in the 5,000 meter run. Ollier had a time of 17:44.14 setting a new personal record. Marisa Slomski had a time of 17:53.08, two-hundreths of a second off of her personal record time of 17:53.06. Colleen Grassley checked in at 17:53.80, while Sarah Reynolds finished the 5K in 18:31.04.
