BIANCO NAMED TO COLLEGE SPORTS JOURNAL FCS ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

University of Dayton defensive back Matt Bianco has been named to the 2012 College Sports Journal FCS All-Academic Team.  Bianco, a sophomore Pre-Med Major from Strongsville, Ohio, was one of five players from the Pioneer Football League named to the 40-man squad.

Bianco finished 2012 fifth on the UD team in tackles despite missing two games with injuries.  He played in nine games, starting seven and was in on 46 tackles and 25 solo hits.  He also has an interception and a fumble recovery.  In addition, he led the Flyers in kickoff return average (21.4 yards per return) and returned five punts for 43 yards.

He carries a 3.60 GPA, and was one of just five sophomores named to the team.

Dayton finished 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the Pioneer Football League this season.  After a slow start, the Flyers won five of their last six to secure their 35th winning season in the last 36 years.
