DAYTON, Ohio
– The University of Dayton women's track and field team has released its 2014 schedule for both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

"Our schedule is very strong this year which will allow us to compete on some of the best facilities in the nation and to compete against some of the nation's best athletes," said head coach Jason Francis. "The women will be challenged in every event week-in and week-out."

The indoor season begins on Jan. 10 at the Buckeye Classic in Columbus, Ohio. Following that, Dayton will travel to the Kentucky Invite (Jan. 17 & 18), Gladstein Invitational (Jan. 24 & 25), and Indiana Relays (Jan. 31 & Feb. 1) to round out the first month of the season.

February will see the Flyers in events such as the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 7), the Akron Invitational (Feb. 8), the Hoosier Hills Invitational (Feb. 14), and the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships (Feb. 22 & 23).

The Indoor National Championships take place on March 14 and 15 in Albuquerque, N.M.

Coach Francis previewed the indoor season.

"Indoors, we have two new meets to start off our season in Ohio State and Kentucky," Francis stated. "I am excited to compete at Kentucky's indoor facility and against the competition that Kentucky will bring."

The outdoor schedule begins shortly after the completion of the indoor season, starting with the Raleigh Relays on March 28 and 29. April will see events at Eastern Illinois (Apr. 4 & 5), All-Ohio Championships in Cincinnati (Apr. 11 & 12), Jesse Owens Invitational in Columbus (Apr. 18 & 19), and the RedHawk Invitational in Oxford (Apr. 26).

The Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships will take place on May 3 and 4 in Amherst, Mass. Following the A10's will be the Louisville Twilight (May 16) and the NCAA East Preliminary Round (May 29, 30, & 31) in order for more chances to qualify for nationals.

The National Outdoor Championships will be held in Eugene, Oregon on June 11, 12, 13, and 14.

Coach Francis talked about expectations heading into the season as well.

"We are an upperclassmen-heavy team this year in that we have 14 seniors and 15 juniors," said Francis. "I expect that our experience will help lead our team through the season. I am excited to see how our freshmen respond to the collegiate competition."
