DAYTON'S BUETTGEN NAMED A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference named the University of Dayton's Noah Buettgen as the Rookie of the Week for his performance this past weekend.

Buettgen had a stellar debut for the Flyers, tossing five shutout innings against Gardner-Webb on Saturday before snow ended the contest. The Liberty Township, Ohio native struck out three and allowed just three hits in his five innings of work before the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

In his first season at Dayton, Buettgen has taken over the No. 2-starter role after transferring from Lincoln Trail Community College.

This was the first week of Atlantic 10 Awards, with LaSalle's Kevin Baron taking Player of the Week honors, and Rhode Island's Andrew Blum and Saint Joseph's Kevin Yacabonis sharing Pitcher of the Week honors.

The Flyers are 0-2-1 on the season and return to action this weekend at UNC-Greensboro starting Friday at 4 p.m. ET.
