DAYTON SET FOR PAIR OF GAMES WITH MIAMI

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton baseball team will play a pair of games against nearby Miami University this week with a home game on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and a road game on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

WEEK PREVIEW
• The Flyers are 8-27-1 this year overall and coming off a huge 4-1 win over VCU on Sunday that ended a 12-game skid for Dayton. This season, the Flyers are 3-16 at home and 5-15-1 in non-conference contests.
• The Miami Redhawks are 18-19 through the first half of the season with a 5-9 road record and a 9-13 non-conference mark. In recent action, MU took two of three games from Ball State at home and has won four of its last five contests.

WHO TO WATCH
• The Dayton offense is batting .227 this season with an on-base percentage of .303 and 68 stolen bases.
Aaron Huesman leads the way with a .333 average and 17 RBIs, while Jared Broughton has provided 20 RBIs and six doubles.
Ian Hundley and Robby Sunderman are the main threats on the base paths with 19 and 14 steals respectively.
• The Flyers have a team ERA of 5.55 through the first 36 games and have racked up 183 strikeouts.
Joe Wahl and Denton Sagerman both have two wins to lead the team with Nick Weybright recording all four of Dayton’s saves on the year.
• Dayton defense
• Miami offensively is batting .269 with 90 extra-base hits, including 74 doubles.
• Alex Johnson leads the team with 29 RBIs, three home runs, and a .446 slugging percentage. Matt Honchel has contributed 12 steals and a team-high .335 batting average.
• Miami’s pitching staff has recorded 236 strikeouts compared to 142 walks while positing a 4.84 ERA.
• Brooks Fiala is 5-4 with a 2.65 ERA and 73 strikeouts to anchor the rotation with Ryan Powers picking up four saves in relief.
 • Brian Thene will make his eighth start of the season against the Flyers Tuesday and has a 2-2 record and 3.38 ERA on the year.

LAST MEETING

• Dayton and Miami last met on April 17, 2012 in Oxford where the Redhawks took a 13-8 win over the Flyers. A.J. Ryan and Jared Broughton both contributed RBIs for UD in the contest.

FORECAST
• The weather is expected to be high-60’s and mostly cloudy on Tuesday. On Wednesday, it will be low-50’s and a chance of rain.
